Hello, I’m Emily!

I’m the founder of The Honest Consumer. I’m an anxious creative advocating for low waste living, small businesses, sustainable food, mental health awareness, & eco-friendly living. I hope to inspire others to live honest, conscious, & transparent lifestyles through mindful living & better buying.

Why did I start The Honest Consumer?

The idea of conscious consumerism can be overwhelming. When I first entered the space back in 2016, I felt like I was doing everything wrong. I felt like sustainable fashion was so focused on minimalism and neutrals, which didn’t fit my style. Zero waste seemed like an overwhelming label that I’d never fit into. I struggled over where to even start with changing my habits!

I wanted to be honest about how I was living my life and encourage others that imperfect sustainability is okay. Mindful living looks different for everybody! That’s why I created resources to give people easy tips for getting started. Mindfulness and sustainability are journeys - we’re all learning as we go.

My Experience Living Mindfully

I graduated with a degree in Social Entrepreneurship. I’ve always been passionate about using business and consumerism as a force for good.

I’ve been trying to live as sustainably as I can since 2015! For me this looks like trying to lower my waste, purchasing from small businesses, and choosing local or organic foods when possible.

I ran an eco-friendly boutique for four years! This gave me direct experience learning about sustainable sourcing and small business.

I’ve been sharing content on mindful living for almost nine years!
