My Experience Trying Sakara’s 3 Day Signature Program

I recently tried Sakara's 3 Day Signature Nutrition Program and am excited to share my thoughts and review.

One of the things I loved the most was the ease of ready to go healthy meals and the portion sizes. A few things I didn’t like include the lack of customization and the price point.

All of Sakara’s meals are Organic, plant-based, gluten-free, dairy-free, non-GMO, and contain no refined sugar.

The company offers a variety of meal plans, including a 21-day detox, their signature program, a metabolism boost plan, a maintenance plan, a bridal program, and more. I tried the 3 Day Signature Nutrition Program.

Why I wanted to Try Sakara

I’d been curious about Sakara for a while now. Since it's all over social media that caught my attention and as one of the pricier "luxury" meal kits on the market I was curious to know if it was worth it?

I'm also not a vegan, so I was interested in trying Sakara to experience more vegan foods.

Sakara Review: 3 Day Signature Nutrition Program

Overall I was really impressed with Sakara's Signature Meal Program. Since I don’t eat a plant-based diet regularly I was a bit concerned that I wouldn’t like the food or would feel hungry during my three day plan.

However, I found the food was well seasoned and I always felt full after each meal.

What I Liked About Sakara

  • Good Portion Sizes: I thought the portions were generous and I always felt full after eating.

  • Overall I loved the food. I felt like there was a good variety of flavors and I appreciated that the breakfasts were a little sweet.

  • Helpful App: The app was super helpful. It has reheating instructions and told me specific days for each meal.

  • Minimal Effort Required: I particularly enjoyed the Sakara meals on busy days. At the end of a long work-from-home day or day out I didn't have to make a mess in the kitchen and cook. I just reheated the meal or mixed up the toppings. The minimal meal prep was definitely a plus!

What I Did Not Like About Sakara

  • Lack of customization: Since I just did a 3 Day Program and did not subscribe I was not able to customize or pick any of my meals. Along with this their website states they cannot accommodate dietary restrictions. This is something to consider if you have allergies or are on a restricted diet.

  • Price point: I was gifted my first order. However, after reviewing the prices this isn’t something that can regularly be part of my lifestyle. While I understand WHY Sakara is so expensive (organic fresh ingredients + pre-made meals) the high price point makes this meal service difficult to incorporate in my regular meal rotation. Subscribers do receive 15% off their regular orders, but even that is a bit too pricey for my budget.

What Came in My Sakara Box?

Upon opening the box I didn't see any instructions on reheating food or what meals I was supposed to eat on each specific day. Thankfully I downloaded the app which told me all this information.

Along with the Sakara meals, there were probiotics, detox teas, and metabolism boosting snacks. There was a booklet about the company values, sustainability, and programs. There was also a tote bag, palo Santo, and a pouch for keeping your essentials in one place

How Does Sakara Work?

I had not used Sakara before, so I was curious how it worked! Customers can select their plan, enter their zip code, and select the number of days, and select the number of meals they want per day.

Can you customize Sakara?

Depending on the plan you select you might be able to customize. For my first order I did a one time order and was unable to customize my meals.

However, if you are a subscriber you do get some choices. If you're interested in trying Sakara or subscribing you can use my discount code HONESTSAKARA for 20% off your first order and Sakara meal delivery.

What Does the Sakara Menu Look Like?

The menu depends on the plan you choose, the week, and your zip code. Here is what my menu looked like for the 3 Day Signature Nutrition Program in Seattle and some food reviews based on the meals I received.

Day 1 Menu

  • Breakfast: Cacao Chip + Almond Waffles which featured Metabolism Super Powder and eucommia-infused maple syrup. I enjoyed this meal as the waffle had a hint of chocolate, but was not overly sweet.

  • Lunch: The Thai Burger featured a sweet potato-based burger with rainbow slaw, roasted root fries, and almond butter ginger drizzle. I thought the burger was great and I enjoyed the bit of tanginess from the citrus in the rainbow slaw. I cut up the burger and ate it all together like a salad.

  • Dinner: Sichuan Noodles with Roasted Carrots featured brown rice noodles, sesame roasted carrots, kale and protein-packed white beans. THis dish definitely had a kick to it which I enjoyed! It was easy to heat up on the stove and incredibly filling.

Day 2 Menu

Overall day two was my favorite day of the program! I felt like there was a great variety in the meals picked for this day.

  • Breakfast: The Spiced Apple Parfait was topped with a mesquite-maple almond butter caramel and superfood granola. This was the perfect fall breakfast. It was sweet and had hints of apple pie, but wasn’t too sweet.

  • Lunch: Brasserie Roasted Vegetables was served with seed toast, maitake tapenade, and roasted potatoes. This was my favorite of the veggie bowls/salads in my program. It had a great variety of vegetables with asparagus, potatoes, and mushrooms. The dressing was amazing and it was so filling I couldn’t even finish it all.

  • Dinner: Vitality Boosting Birria Taco featuring heirloom corn tortilla, jackfruit, cultured cashew “cream cheeze,” cumin, and smoked paprika. This was definitely my favorite dinner. The taco was seasoned really well and I enjoyed the beans and slaw that complimented it.

Day 3 Menu

  • Breakfast: The Raspberry Tea Cake with French lemon curd was amazing. This was by far my favorite breakfast. It tasted like a traditional pastry.

  • Lunch: The Mama Earth Bowl featured roasted sweet potato, rainbow slaw, pink pine nuts, and tarragon-tahini detox dressing. This was my least favorite meal on my plan. The dressing wasn't to my liking, so I ended up eating a few bites and then just having my Metabolism bar.

  • Dinner: The Inner Fire Bowl with Gochujang “mayo.” This bowl had a good mix of grains and veggies. I appreciated the spice!

Is Sakara Worth It?

I think this depends on what your nutritional goals and values are. If you’re somebody who values eating incredibly clean and has a busy lifestyle I’d say yes, it’s worth it.

This is an easy way to get your vegetables in without having to cook or go grocery shopping. You can easily take the meals on the go too!

However, if you’re somebody who strives to eat healthy on a budget or enjoys cooking then this might not be the best fit for you.

It’s also important to consider if you have other people in your household since Sakara meals are for one person.

If you’re looking for an easy way to start eating a plant-based diet or more organic foods, I think Sakara is a great way to start doing that without having to put too much thought into meal planning!

The bottom line is you have to know what you're prioritizing to decide if Sakara is worth it!

Will I Subscribe to Sakara?

Personally, I really enjoyed the food and the experience. The easy healthy eating was great! It was fresh and well flavored. I felt energized and full the entire time. My current income doesn’t allow me to eat Sakara every week.

However, I think this is something I would like to do occasionally as a way to cleanse my body. I definitely felt energized while eating all these healthy foods.

As of 2023 I do a Sakara order about once a month.

I think Sakara meal delivery services are a good option if you're looking to eat cleaner and more organic food! The food is incredibly fresh and yummy!

I also appreciate that they’re one of the more sustainable meal services. We have a post dedicated to sharing Sakara’s eco-friendly initiatives.

As a meat eater, I was pleasantly surprised by this vegan food! I also think it's great they offer other wellness essentials to compliment the meal delivery programs.
