Fair Trade Haiti Coffee from Singing Rooster
Have you tried Singing Rooster’s fair trade coffee yet? Because it’s one of my favorites!
It’s a coffee brand I first tried while studying abroad in Haiti! They’re doing wonderful work and I highly encourage you to try it!

Fair Trade Coffee from Haiti
Singing Rooster works with small producers in Haiti to ensure farmers are fairly paid, treated respectfully, and to provide resources for Haitian suppliers to grow their businesses.
Through their partnerships Singing Rooster is able to supply U.S. markets with gourmet Haitian coffee and provide Haitian farmers with the opportunity to expand and reach new markets.
This Haitian coffee brand is fighting against slavery in the coffee industry by paying partnering farmers are paid a MINIMUM of $3 per pound which is about twice as much as most farmers receive.
Singing Rooster returns another 50 cents after crops sell for continued business development. The remainder of cost pays for export/import, transport to roastery, warehousing, roasting, bagging, shipping.
Since Singing Rooster is a non-profit 100% of proceeds from sales back to farmer communities in the form of agricultural, small business management, and entrepreneurial development activities.
As of 2018 Singing Rooster has been able to put $2 million into the pockets of coffee farmers which is incredible given the per-capita gross national income is less than $800 a year for a farmer family.
What does fair trade coffee mean to Singing Rooster?
Singing Rooster is part of the Fair Trade Federation, a third party certification that confirms businesses are using fair trade principles to create sustainable businesses and work towards alleviating poverty.
Fair trade members focus on paying livable wages, treating employees with dignity, and focusing on eco-friendly practices.
Singing Rooster clearly goes above and beyond the basic fair trade principles by not only practicing ethical business, but also through valuing the growth of their farmers.
Singing Rooster encourages farmers to expand by providing business training to help educate farmers on best practices, basic accounting, and other valuable business skills. Singing Rooster also helps with equipment upgrades helping farmers improve their techniques. I’m so impressed with their initiatives!

Singing Rooster Haitian Coffee Review
As a fellow coffee addict, I’ve tried just about all their roasts. My personal favorite from Singing Rooster is the Medium-Dark Vienna.
This roast seems to be darker, but not too dark! It hits that perfect spot in the middle for me. You can purchase this roast ground or in compostable k-cups! I love the convenience and sustainability of their k-cups!!
