50+ Ethical & Eco Woman Owned Businesses to Shop
In honor of Women’s History Month I wanted to highlight some wonderful female founded businesses and why we should be supporting female entrepreneurs. Shop small and support woman owned businesses that share positive values.
Why supporting woman owned businesses matters?
According to The Guardian and State of Women Owned Business Report, women-owned businesses now represent 42% of all businesses – nearly 13 million – employ 9.4 million workers and generate revenue of $1.9tn. Women, on average, started 1,817 new businesses a day in the US between 2018 and 2019.
The growth of women owned businesses is inspiring, but women still struggle to compete with financing and resources for their small businesses.
Capital with Strategy reports that while the growth of women-owned small businesses is rising, that number is still noticeably behind the growth rate of small businesses owned and operated by men.
One study shows that 71% of women-led small businesses are profitable while 80% of small businesses owned by men are profitable.
How women run businesses positively impact the community
Women owned businesses need your support as Capital with Strategy reported that these small businesses are essential for keeping local economies growing and brining new jobs into the communities.
With the rapid growth of these businesses, women in cities across the United States are helping to build vibrant and thriving communities.
As an article from the Houston Chronicle points out, patronizing a small business means putting money back into a local economy.
Local business taxes benefit everything from schools to fire departments to parks that make communities stronger, safer, and more fun places to live and raise families.
