I Tried Simple Kneads Organic Gluten Free Bread: Here's My Thoughts
I’ve been eating mostly gluten free for a few years and finding a good bread has always been a challenge. Plus, it’s extra hard to find gluten free breads made with organic ingredients.
I’d been seeing Simple Kneads organic gluten free bread all over social media. It took me a while to commit and order a shipment because of the price. It’s $42-$47 for four loaves of bread depending on the flavors you choose.
Their flavor options include sourdough, pumpernickel, quinoa power grains, and cinnamon raisin.
They ended up having a sale and I purchased two loaves of cinnamon raisin and two loaves of sourdough.
I really wanted to love this bread because of the clean ingredients and third party certifications, but it wasn’t for me.
What I Thought of Simple Kneads Bread
Shipping was included and quick which I appreciated. Upon unpacking my order I noticed the bread had clear instructions on how to store it and how long it lasts! This was super helpful.
Honestly, I did not love the taste. The sourdough did not taste like sourdough to me…it tasted a bit too grainy for my personal taste preference. And the cinnamon raisin did not taste very cinnamony to me.
I made a few different things with the breads I ordered including toast with butter, avocado toast, and a peanut butter & jelly sandwich to really give the bread a chance.
I DO think the bread tastes better when you toast it and put things on top of it like with avocado toast.
I also didn’t love the texture of this bread. Again, the texture was much better when toasted. But when I made my PB&J the sourdough texture just wasn’t right for my personal preference.
There are some pros to this bread.
Pros of this Gluten Free Bread
Does NOT crumble: I do appreciate that it is sturdy bread…it does not crumble like a lot of gluten free breads do.
Clean ingredients: I also LOVE that it is made with organic ingredients. It’s actually pretty challenging to find gluten free bread that is organic. Simple Kneads breads are free from wheat, eggs, dairy, tree nuts, soy, peanuts, sesame, starches, gums, bakers yeast, and rice.
Third party certifications: Non-GMO Project Verified, Gluten Free Certified, Top 9 Allergen Free, USDA Organic Certified, and vegan.
Lasts a long time: Lasts for up to six weeks in the refrigerator.
Cons of Simple Kneads
Taste: Maybe the other flavors are better but I was not impressed with the sourdough or cinnamon raisin as discussed above.
Texture: This bread was just not the texture I like.
Cost: It’s pretty pricey and the fact that you have to order four loaves at a time means you really have to love it.
I’m glad that I tried this bread because I’ve been curious, but probably won’t be purchasing again.
