12 Sustainable Etsy Shops to Support Crafters & Makers

Etsy can be an eco-conscious, ethical, and sustainable shopping option.

By focusing on handmade and vintage items sold by small and independent brands and creatives who make mindful products, conscious consumers can avoid mass-produced goods that renege on quality, often made by large companies and brands that mistreat workers and pollute the environment.

Remain as cognizant as you would anywhere else. Etsy sellers are not very regulated: this can open buyers to purchasing something that is not actually handmade or original, and can hurt sellers that are using the platform as intended.

Browse social media to get better acquainted with brands and support Etsy shops that are sustainable. You can look for eco-friendly practices, responsible ingredients, small batch production, and minimal packaging.

Two Howling Labs Upcycled Clothing & Accessories

This Etsy shop was started by my own friend from college, Sofi! Named after two Labradors, Two Howling Labs uses reclaimed materials, as well as thrifted or vintage clothes to make fun, whimsical clothing and accessories like denim overalls with flower quilt blocks or bucket hats and bags made out of quilt remnants.

It’s a fantastic way of repurposing materials that still have lots of joy to give, and it results in very unique pieces.
